Hi! I’m Shefali!
I’m a Board-Certified Health and Wellness Coach and a certified Fitness Instructor on a mission to help women navigate their heath journey through realistic goals that are sustainable through healthy habits and lifestyle changes.
I’ve experienced the pressure of maintaining the “I’m fine” attitude, when in reality, I was tired, stressed and felt completely lost.
I’ve struggled with weight gain since high school but was always so thankful I was a student athlete. I played volleyball for 8 years and realized early on how important fitness was to my overall mental state. It’s something I’ve incorporated in my routine even when I’ve gained 60lbs with each of my two pregnancies. Weight gain and nutrition were my weaknesses and like many women, I didn’t understand that the foods I was eating were having a bigger impact on my health than I realized.
My curiosity of ingredients and their effects led me to become a vegan for five years (I’m not anymore, I’ll tell you why in a minute) and through that journey, my love for all things health related grew.
I became obsessed with learning about how our food impacts our overall well-being. I learned new ways to integrate plant-based protein in my normal meals (simply using tofu or tempeh instead of chicken in my tacos for example). Or finding various uses of vegetables, lentils and grains.
Even though I ate so healthy and worked out religiously, my stomach issues remained and got worse.
After a lot research, labs, and doctors appointments, I was diagnosed with IBS, Irritable Bowl Syndrome. Unfortunately, it’s a common thing to have and many people don’t even know they have it. They accept the fact that bloating, loose stool and overall fatigue are “normal.”
I was vegan for another year after learning about IBS and figuring out ways to help it resolve naturally. The best course of action for me personally was to start eating meat and eggs again. The amount of lentils and vegetables I was consuming to maintain a healthy protein ratio was causing more IBS issues to remain on a vegan diet.
I obtained so much knowledge about gut health, veganism, IBS, protein and overall health and wellness, I was eager to share my love for it all on my GreenFitNice Instagram page.
I began posting workouts and motivational videos. Women were excited to hear what I had to say, and I realized I had the ability to help so many others if I made this gig a full time deal.
So, with two kids and a ton of family support, I went back to school and got Board Certified as a Health and Wellness Coach. Helping clients achieve their goals is truly the most rewarding aspect of my job.
